Journal of Physics B 37, pp L321-L328 (2004)A theoretical model is developed for the treatment of single and coincident multi-elctron emission from a C60 molecule following the absorption of a VUV photon. The multi-electron ionization process is viewed as a single electron-photon interaction followed by a sequence of incoherent electron-electron collisions in which the photon energy is distributed among the emitted electrons. The single-particle states of C60 are calculated within the Hartree-Fock and the spherical jellium approximation whereas many-body effects are treated on the basis of the random-phase approximation with exchange. Quantum mechanical transition amplitudes and cross sections are evaluated numerically and compared with available experiments.
