Z. Angew. Math. Mech. 89, pp 850 – 856 (2009)To assess the traditional solutions of the constraint problems of sleigh, we introduce a resistent torque acting on the knife blade. The derived solutions conform with experience whereas the traditional counter-intuitive results follow from ourspecial cases when the resistent torque is very small or/and the length of the knife blade vanishes.
