Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics 29, pp 2289-2303 (1996) (1998)In this work the multiply-differential cross section for electron-impact ionization is considered. A coplanar, equal-energy, fixed-relative angle kinematics is chosen and the particular case where the scattered and ionized electrons emerge perpendicular to each other is emphasized. It is shown how new structures arise in the spin non-resolved cross sections due to an interplay between single-binary collisions and the ratio of singlet to triplet scattering. We deduce that the angular behaviour of these structures in the spin non-resolved cross sections gives a direct hint as to the spin states occupied by the escaping electrons.
