We do theoretical research to understand the behavior of physical systems under external perturbations. We are especially interested in nanostructures and how to obtain new functionalities by modulating their composition, geometry, or topology. We simulate the ultrafast response to structured fields such as shaped laser pulses and develop concepts for using the knowledge in spintronic, optoelectronic, and photonic devices.
